Emergency Health Assistance for Earthquake-Affected Families in Kunar Province, Afghanistan

Info:

Location: Kunar Province, Afghanistan
Project Duration: October 2025 – December 2026
Donor: Action Medeor

In response to the devastating earthquake that struck eastern Afghanistan in August 2025, Union Aid launched an emergency health intervention to support affected communities in Kunar Province. The disaster resulted in more than 2,200 deaths, over 3,600 injuries, and extensive damage to homes, health facilities, and essential infrastructure, leaving thousands of families without access to critical healthcare services.

To address these urgent needs, Union Aid established two Primary Healthcare Clinics (PHCs) in the affected areas. One clinic is supported by Action Medeor, while the second clinic is funded by MI and ADH. These facilities provide lifesaving healthcare services to vulnerable earthquake-affected families and help restore access to essential medical care.

The project aims to reach 8,750 beneficiaries with a comprehensive package of services, including:

·       Primary healthcare services

·       Emergency and trauma care

·       Maternal and child health services

·       Psychosocial support

·       Referral services for specialized care

·       Health education and disease prevention activities

Through this intervention, Union Aid remains committed to supporting vulnerable communities, saving lives, reducing suffering, and helping earthquake-affected families recover with dignity and resilience.

Together with our partners and donors, we are bringing essential healthcare and hope to communities most affected by disaster.
