Strengthening Laboratory Capacity for Better Diagnosis

From 27–30 September 2026, Union Aid conducted a four-day laboratory refresher training at its Central Office for laboratory section staff from seven supported health facilities.

The training was conducted in close collaboration with the Kabul Public Health Directorate, Central Publish Health Laboratory, and National Tuberculosis Control Program (NTP), with experienced trainers providing technical and practical guidance.

Key areas covered included:
• TB sputum smear microscopy
• Malaria and Leishmaniosis diagnosis
• Sample collection, preparation and handling
• Quality assurance and infection prevention and control
• Accurate laboratory recording and reporting

The training provided participants with an opportunity to refresh their technical knowledge, strengthen practical skills, share experiences, and address common challenges in laboratory services.

Strong laboratory capacity is essential for early and accurate diagnosis, timely treatment, disease prevention, and quality healthcare.

Union Aid appreciates the continued collaboration of the Kabul Public Health Directorate, Central Publish Health Laboratory, and NTP and remains committed to strengthening diagnostic services through continuous training, capacity building, and technical support.
